Did you know Bonney Lake is a Code City?

Do you know why they want to change
the current form of government?

If your answer is No, Vote No.

Why Vote No?

Against Statement

If it ain’t broke don’t “fix” it! This change could cost up to $400,000.00 of your tax dollars. In these uncertain economic times, is this the right thing to do? The current mayor-council has delivered increased public safety, no tax increases, protected open spaces and improved parks. This system is flexible to changing conditions. A charter will cement in place a vision of the city potentially locking in inadequate responses to changing conditions. Out of hundreds of other incorporated cities in Washington only ONE has adopted this proposed form of government, Kelso.

Smart voters will VOTE NO.

Current Situation

Bonney Lake is currently a Code City with a strong Council/Mayor form of government.

The city is divided into five wards and has seven council members, with one council member for each of the five wards, and two council members representing the entire city.

Elections take place on off years with half of the council elected each time for four year terms. The council/mayor/staff can hear citizen input during council meetings, open houses, and committee meetings. A forum is always provided, and the citizen has only to come forward and speak.

Under the current council/mayor the system is working fine with good cooperation between the council, mayor and city staff.
